CO-ACTIVE® TRAINING INSTITUTE

Let's create a new language of leadership, together!

For the last 30 years the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) has been offering the gold-standard in coach training and leadership development for individuals and organizations. Now we are creating a new language of leadership. Let's do this together.

College Equivalence with Co-Active

Earning college credit can help students in pursuit of a degree or people who are looking for tuition reimbursement from their employer. Co-Active® Training Institute programs are recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) offering degree credits for all of our programs.

For 100 years the ACE has been mobilizing the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high-quality practice world wide. They are the major governing agency for establishing college credit for programs that measure up to it’s standards.

Overview

For 100 years the American Council on Education (ACE) has been mobilizing the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high-quality practice world wide. They are the major governing agency for establishing college credit for programs that measure up to its standards.

ACE credit recommendations for CTI courses may help you in receiving credit at a college or university. In addition, many employers reference courses that have received ACE recommendations when determining whether or not to reimburse employees for course fees and educational expenses.

ACE does not grant or award college credit for courses. Based on their evaluation of our programs, they recommend credit hours to your educational institution.

The following CTI programs are recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE)*

  • Co-Active® Fundamentals: 1 semester unit
  • Co-Active® Fulfillment: 1 semester unit
  • Co-Active® Balance: 1 semester unit
  • Co-Active® Process: 1 semester unit
  • Co-Active® Synergy: 1 semester unit
  • Co-Active® Coach Certification: 3 semester units
  • Co-Active® Leadership Retreat: 6 semester units
  • Co-Active® Leadership Experience: 1 semester units

An ACE CREDIT Review is a thorough process. CTI’s courses, materials and examinations were reviewed at our headquarters during an intensive, daylong process by a carefully selected team of faculty evaluators from relevant academic disciplines. The faculty evaluators validated CTI’s course materials to determine content, scope and rigor to align with curricula currently being taught at accredited institutions.

ACE CREDIT reviewers are faculty members of colleges and universities, and are chosen for their training and experience as well as their knowledge of curricula and instructional methods. They consider only those competencies and learning objectives that can be equated with post-secondary curricula.

ACE team members considered a number of relevant factors, including:

  • Course content
  • Learning outcomes
  • Level of difficulty
  • Depth and breadth of material
  • Evaluation methods (tests, papers, presentations, etc.)
  • Applicability to post-secondary programs

All of CTI’s ACE-recommended courses were evaluated at the upper division level. This category describes courses taken during the last two years of a baccalaureate program.

Payment is always the student’s responsibility. Reimbursement policies vary from company to company, so students should talk to their employer in advance about their company’s policy on reimbursement for CTI courses.

Ask your employer ahead of time about requirements for company reimbursement. Some companies require successful completion of the course, have an annual dollar limit on educational reimbursement, and/or limit reimbursement eligibility to courses that are directly job related.

Successful completion of an ACE-recommended course results in actual course credit only when the course is accepted toward a degree or certificate at a post-secondary institution. If you plan to take an ACE-recommended course, you should contact the admissions office at the college you plan to attend to determine their policy on accepting credit based on ACE recommendations.

Please contact your college or university before registering for the ACE recommended course to see if credit is accepted at the institution.

For the Co-Active Coach Training courses (Fundamentals, Fulfillment, Balance, Process, and Synergy), participants must register with CTI (see “How do students register for ACE?” above) to take the course for the ACE CREDIT recommendation, complete and pass an ACE Exam after each course, and satisfy all in-course participation requirements.

In addition, participants must attend all four retreats, complete the homework assignments and between retreat course projects, and receive a favorable evaluation from course leaders in order to receive the ACE CREDIT recommendation.

Please note that to be eligible for a transcript from ACE, students must pass the course and the associated exams.

Colleges and universities usually require an official ACE transcript to consider courses for college credit. The certificate of completion provided by CTI is not adequate.

To request a transcript:

  1.  Register for the ACE Transcript Service
An ACE transcript is a secure, universally accepted document with easy-to-read descriptions, ACE college credit recommendations, and suggested transfer areas. It can be sent at any time to the college or university of your choice.

  2. Submit your completed courses for verification
After you register with ACE and complete the courses for which you’ve registered, you can search the ACE Course Catalog for the courses that you have passed. Add the courses that you have passed to your ACE course list. You must enter the date that you completed each course. When you finish adding courses to your course list, select Send Your Record for Review. Your information will be sent to CTI for verification. After your courses have been verified, you will receive confirmation from ACE by email. You can then access your updated ACE transcript.

  3. Send the ACE transcript to your school
Visit the ACE website to submit a transcript request. Sign in by using the account you created when you registered. ACE will send your official ACE transcript to the college or university of your choice. You must pay a one-time fee ($40 USD) to activate your ACE transcript account. The fee covers the cost of your first transcript and additional transcripts can be requested for a nominal fee.

There is a one-time set-up fee of $40 to register with ACE, which includes the first transcript. Subsequent transcripts are $15 each. These fees are subject to change. Please contact the ACE Transcript Service or visit the ACE website for the most recent information on transcript fees.

Please contact your college or university before applying for ACE to determine credit recommendations are accepted at the institution.

ACE maintains a network of institutions called the ACE College and University Network that accept ACE college credit recommendations. Each cooperating college or university considers ACE credit recommendations but independently decides whether to award credit. While ACE cooperating colleges give considerable weight to ACE credit recommendations, each institution sets its own policies for granting credit. Learn which institutions participate in the ACE CREDIT College and University Network.

If your college or university is not a member of the ACE College and University Network, it is possible to receive credit based on ACE credit recommendations. Contact your college or university and inquire about their policy regarding ACE college credit recommendations for the course you intend to take. Institutions independently determine how much credit is appropriate to award.

ACE has a successful advocacy service and encourages students to contact them for assistance in gaining the maximum amount of college credit possible. If the rejection is the result of a departmental or institutional policy not to accept any non-collegiate credit, consider writing a carefully thought-out letter of appeal to the academic dean or provost at the college.

In addition, contact ACE so that they can provide the recipient of your letter with additional information on the course and ACE’s examination review process. You may contact the ACE CREDIT office through e-mail at credit@acenet.edu, by calling (202) 939-9434, or by writing to the College Credit Recommendation Service, American Council on Education, One Dupont Circle NW, Washington, DC 20036.
