CTI Newsletter: Co-Active Global News

Letter from the Co-founder

Hello Everyone:
It’s been quite a year here at CTI. From our first Global Co-Active Summit in February of 2012, to the release of the third edition of Co-Active Coaching, to shifts in the Co-Active Model and our Core’s been a year of evolution and transformation.
When Laura, Henry and I first began CTI in 1992, it was easy to make revisions. We just looked at each other, sort of shrugged our shoulders and made it so. Today with programs in many different languages and a robust graduate community that literally spans the globe, it’s something of a different matter.
From the beginning, these changes have been a collaborative effort which began with a deep desire to express the wisdom reflected back to us by our students and faculty. I am proud that we are willing to do what it takes to stay current and timely and inspired by the impact that I feel and see all around me.

Spring 2012

Karen Kimsey-House

Here are some of the changes that I notice. First of all, there is room for everyone. While I love coaching, it’s been clear for some time that the impact of the Co-Active Model expands far beyond any one particular application. Secondly, there is a stated purpose that unites us, a place where we can stand shoulder to shoulder in our common commitment to evoke transformation in ourselves and in our world. Lastly, it serves to keep things fresh and current. If we don’t change, we don’t evolve. These changes have opened up our thinking and made room for new ideas throughout the curriculum and throughout our organization.

Henry and I are a having a blast traveling about and engaging in conversation with our graduates at Meet the Model one day events. I feel very fortunate to have the partnership of dedicated faculty, staff and international partners. I read somewhere that one knows the caliber of their life by the company that they keep. If so, my life is of the highest caliber, reflected in the brilliance I see around me in this world of the Co-Active Way. Thank you!

Lots of love,

Karen Kimsey-House
CEO and Co-founder

Co-Active Network News

Managing Daily Digests
If you are active in several communities on the Co-Active Network, you may find yourself on the receiving end of many daily digests. Did you know you can turn off the daily emails from individual communities—including the Main Community?

Login to then click on the “Manage Account” link near the top of the green box at the left edge of screen. Here you will find a list of communities you are joined to under the heading “My Communities.” You will see two columns of boxes, one labeled “Daily Digest,” and the other labeled “Real-time Notifications.”

If you do not want to receive any email from a particular community, uncheck both boxes to cease email delivery for that community. If you want a summary of each day’s activities sent to you once per day, check the box for “Daily Digest.” (This is the default when you join any community.) If you want to receive an email as soon as somebody posts or responds, check the box for “Real-time Notifications.” Finish by clicking the “Save Changes” button.

If you are traveling and want to temporarily halt all daily digest emails from the Co-Active Network, check the “Suspend Mail” box on the “Manage Account” screen. This will stop all email from every community you are joined to until you return and remove the check in the box. Don’t forget to click the “Save Changes” button to make your changes stick.

Let me know if there is something on the Co-Active Network you’d like to learn more about.
Marcia Norris, Co-active Network Liaison

New: Co-Active Thinkpal App for Apple And Android

Co-Active Coaching, Third Edition

CTI is excited to announce the launch of its smart-phone app: Co-Active ThinkPal. In the spirit of Co-Activity, the app was developed in partnership with The Knowledge Labs, a multimedia production firm founded by a CPCC. The Co-Active ThinkPal app is available in Beta immediately through the Android store (now known as 'Google Play') and will be in the Apple store later this week. (The launch of iPad3 has clogged up the app store system and delayed our release there.) To be notified as soon as the Apple version is available, please register for a release notice—or search the Apple store for ‘Co-active’ in a few days.

With The Co-Active Model growing into a global phenomenon and technology offering opportunities to connect with a larger audience, we are excited to take our core mission into mobile digital territory.

The app brings to life Co-Active coaching tools, through:

  • Provocative questions to help users through the hottest coaching topics
  • Assessment wheels; including the wheel of life and professional wheel
  • Audio recordings of Life Purpose, and Meet Your Captain visualizations
  • Plus, the ‘Notes to Self’ feature gives users the opportunity to write or record their insights and share them with their coach and peers

For the coach:

  • Use Co-Active ThinkPal with your clients to get you started when you’re looking for a new direction

  • Self-coach by exploring the different question sets when you face your own challenges

For your clients:

  • Ask a client to complete one of the of assessment wheels and send their notes to you before your next session
  • Suggest your client use Co-Active ThinkPal to ruminate on a stirring issue when you’re not available. They can record thoughts and email them to you directly; ready for exploration in your next session

This empowering and creative tool will be a coaching aid in your pocket and something to share with your clients before, during and after sessions to Forward Action and Deepen Learning.

In support of CTI’s goal to spread Co-Active concepts around the globe, we hope this Co-Active app will become a useful tool for the Co-Active community. It’s time to play—enjoy!

European co-active coaching community thrives

by Kyle Newman

On 3rd February over 40 Co-Active Coaches gathered from across Europe for the European Co-Active Coaching Community’s first ever Business Development Day. Headlined by 4 Co-Active Coaches: Kyle Newman, Sue Belton, Phil Askew and Jill McCulloch the delegates were treated to a day of full force information and learning to help them grow their business and attract more clients.

The day was a raging success and those that attended left with tired bodies and smiles on their faces, yet many were still able to summon the energy to celebrate post event with drinks at a swanky bar overlooking the River Thames and Tower Bridge. To get a feel for the event, view our photo album. ECCC may be running Business Development Day again later in the year.

If you are looking for some spring inspiration, or seeking a fresh, vibrant, new perspective, come and join us for “Spice It Up!” European Co-Active Coaching Community Day Event on 4 May 2012. We have an exciting line-up of speakers with thought provoking ideas and workshops designed to get us out of our comfort zone, ignite our thinking and spice up our technique. Highlights to include:

  • Susannah Southgate—Heart-Work not Hard-Work; embodying the heart to evoke transformation
  • Sarah Lloyd Hughes—You and the Spotlight: How to Inspire Others; unleash the inspiring speaker within
  • Kull and Fiona Monks—Talk About Sex; tools to coach our clients on sexuality with less anxiety and more skill

Global Co-Active Summit in April 2014

Mark your calendar. The next Global Co-Active Summit will take place April 10-12, 2014. Write it down, commit the dates to memory, start collecting your spare change. Envision the experience: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, April 10-12, 2014.

The location will be in Northern California wine country. We’re sorry we can’t tell you yet the exact location because the venue is not prepared to take reservations or answer questions at this time. But we can promise you that the Summit 2014 will be a special experience. The Co-Active community will be the only group/activity on the premises. Imagine that.

Notes from the Middle East

Sabrina Roblin, CTI’s Vice President of Administration/Chief Learning Officer, travelled to Istanbul, Turkey in February to conduct auditions for new local faculty members required to meet growing Co-Active training needs in the Middle East. Teaming up with two current faculty members, Sabrina evaluated 8 auditionees from Turkey and 3 auditionees from Dubai.

Serhan Kuseyrioglu, CTI’s partner in Turkey, is very committed to bringing Co-Active Coaching back to her country and to building the business and the local community. She held all participants in the process well. Gonan Premfors, a CTI partner from Dubai, UAE was in Istanbul for business and was also able to connect with the proceedings.

Speaking of Gonan Premfors, it is well worth your time to listen to her TEDtalk presentation hosted by TEDxDubai – Relationships Rebooted. Also, Gonan was joined by her husband Johan Premfors for a TEDtalk presentation in California hosted by TEDxSantaCruz – Trustology. Listen to one and savor it for awhile, then enjoy the other. You’ll be glad you did.

Connecting the Co-Active Global Community

CTI is always looking for smart ways to extend our community, to connect with both our alumni and new students, and to keep up-to-date on what everyone is doing. If you haven’t been there yet, please visit our Facebook page and “Like” us or visit our Twitter profile and follow us--we’ll follow you back. We would love your ideas about activities to make this interaction valuable for all.

Recently we updated the CTI blog, Transforum, to allow you to sign up to receive an email any time a new blog post is available. Karen Kimsey-House is the primary voice on the blog. Please take advantage of the opportunity to engage in conversation with Karen and the community in that venue.

And don’t forget the original place coaches gather to connect: the Co-Active Network. Take advantage of the ongoing dialog and sharing of expertise in the discussion areas. And don’t miss our free webinars offered monthly; three upcoming topics are detailed up top of this newsletter.
