Karen Makkes van der Deijl has a law degree, LL.M, from Leiden University in The Netherlands. She is furthermore a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC from the Co-Active Training Institute) and an accredited Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF). She is also a Graduate of the Co-Active Leadership Program.
Her motto is ‘Live life to the fullest and inspire others to do the same’. She is an energetic, enthusiastic, and highly qualified coach and has been coaching executives, teams and coaches towards successfully living and performing for over 21 years. Karen was a successful manager in financial services before launching her own company in 2010, Robin Coaching (www.robincoaching.com). Her clients come from a variety of sectors including: Financial Services, Retail, Legal, Health Services, Accountancy, Transport, Education, Entertainment, Agriculture, Mining, and Industrial Production .
Clients work with Karen because they want to take leadership over their situation, professional or personal. She helps clients rise above circumstances to create the life, team, and work they really want. Her methodology and approach is based on the Co-Active coaching and leadership models. In facilitation, she designs and delivers leadership trainings by bringing time tested theoretical models to life using experiential exercises designed to help participants learn by doing. In coaching, Karen creates a space of warmth, lightness, courage and safety and her coaching style is open, dynamic and insightful.
Her experience as Front of room leader for the Co-Active Training Institute (www.coactive.com) has seen her lead over 150 programs globally and she also holds the role of faculty with ACT Leadership and Performance Coaching (www.actleader.com). She was a Team Coach for STERIS, ING Insurance, Rotterdam School of Management, KWS and Cargill among others. She is an Executive coach for ING Bank, Sanguin, Accenture, Cargill, ABN AMRO Bank, DP World, Lloyds Register, Boels, RET and KWS among others and has facilitated workshops for companies such as ING Bank, Footlocker, Rotterdam School of Management, Disney Retail, Kinross Goldmining, Cargill, as well as taking her knowledge and skills into high schools, prisons and underprivileged areas like Rwanda and India.
She also holds certificates from The Leadership Circle Profile, Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching, Organizational and Relationship Systems Coaching (CRR Global), Self Managing Leadership (Oxford Leadership), Neuroscience, Consciousness and Transformational coaching (BEabove Leadership), Transformational Presence for Leaders and Coaches (Alan Seale).
Karen is mother of a 21-year-old son and loves the surprises, challenges and playfulness that come with this age.
