Celebrate ICW with Co-Active Training Institute

two men in conversation

Every May, coaches and leaders from around the globe in more than 80 countries come together to celebrate International Coaching Week (ICW), hosted by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

ICW is a world-wide reminder of what’s possible when people commit to human-centered growth.

This year, Co-Active Training Institute is hosting two live sessions to equip and inspire you about our responsibility and purpose—as many of us are asking, “What does it mean to coach in this moment?”

Join us for a grounded, thought-provoking exploration of what it means to be a coach and how to do it well right now, when the acceleration is higher with significantly higher stakes.Co-Active Live Sessions

Co-Active Live Sessions

What Does It Mean to Coach in This Moment?

ICW has become one of the most far-reaching events in the coaching world, drawing more than 30,000 participants in 2025 across 1,550 events in 37 languages. The power of this moment lies in the reminder that coaching is a global practice, meeting people across industries, cultures, and roles who are redefining what it means to hold space for others in a world that’s moving faster than ever.

Co-Active Training Institute’s two ICW sessions this year delve into two dominant aspects of the coach’s world in 2026.

Rather than offering a skills refresh or a polished presentation, these conversations ask the harder question: how do we show up as coaches and leaders when urgency is unrelenting and clarity is scarce?

These sessions are open to coaches at every stage, leaders who use a coaching style of leadership or skills in their role, and anyone curious about what coaching can offer right now.

Session 1

Coaching in Times of Urgency

Presence, Discernment, and Steadiness in High-Stakes Contexts

Led by: Nina Simonds, MCC, CPCC, and Sam House, MCC, CPCC

Wednesday, May 13, 2026
10:00–11:30 a.m. PT / 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

This session explores the role of coaching when individuals and systems are navigating rapid change, uncertainty, and high-stakes decision-making. Rather than offering tactical solutions, Nina and Sam will focus on the distinctly human capabilities coaches bring to volatile environments: creating space for reflection, helping leaders slow down enough to think clearly, and supporting discernment when competing priorities, emotions, and external pressures collide.
Topics we’ll explore:
  • How urgency impacts a leader’s decision-making and presence
  • The role of coaching presence when leaders feel pressure to act quickly
  • Sustaining our relationships when stakes are high
You’ll walk away able to:
  • Regulate not just your own nervous system, but your client’s
  • Articulate how Co-Active coaching moves clients from default, reactive responses toward a centered, embodied capacity to choose
  • See the difference between a good coaching conversation and a transformational one, and what it takes to get there

Coaching Beyond the Client

Leadership, Systems & Impact

Led by: Joni Mar, MCC, CPCC, and Marjoleine Byrne, PCC, CPCC

Thursday, May 14, 2026
10:00–11:30 a.m. PT / 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

This session explores how coaching shows up beyond formal coach–client relationships and invites participants to reflect on how they want to use coaching in the world at this moment in their life and work. While coaching is most often associated with a formal client relationship, coaching skills increasingly show up across a much wider landscape: everyday conversations, communities, team leadership, organizations. Joni and Marjoleine will explore how coaches and leaders can bring a coaching mindset into broader roles and, and invite you to reflect on where your skills are most needed right now.
Topics we’ll explore:
  • How coaching shows up beyond 1:1 relationships in leadership, organizations, communities, and everyday conversations
  • What coaching-informed leadership looks like in environments shaped by uncertainty, and competing demands
  • How to identify where coaching is most needed in the relationships and systems you inhabit and what you can do about it
  • The relationship between coaching skills and leadership capacity, and what that means for your next chapter
You’ll walk away able to:
  • Expand your definition of coaching: see how it operates as a way of relating that shapes culture, decisions, and the people around you
  • Understand what leadership looks like when it’s informed by a coaching mindset
  • Identify where your coaching skills could have a meaningful impact, immediately
