International Coach Federation (ICF)

The International Coach Federation, established in 1995, is the worldwide leader dedicated to advancement of the coaching profession through specifying high standards, providing independent certification, and developing a global network of credentialed coaches.

Our CTI founders’ involvement with the ICF from its very inception has resulted in a significant influence on the industry, including much of the ICF framework of coaching competencies and ethics. CTI was the very first coach training organization to be accredited by the ICF. Each of our core courses is accredited and our full program, which consists of the core courses and certification, is a Level 2 ICF Accredited Coach Training Program.

Completion of each core course, the Certification Program, and the Co-Active Leadership Program earns the following ICF in-class contact hours: Co-Active Coaching Fundamentals earns 18.75 hours; Fulfillment earns 21.50 hours; Balance, Process, and Synergy each earn 21.25 hours; the Certification Program earns 96 hours; and the Co-Active Leadership Program earns 182.75 hours.

Graduates of our ICF-accredited Coach Training Program who receive the Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) designation are also eligible to pursue additional certification through the ICF. Ranging from Associated Certified Coach (ACC) to Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC), qualification for each ICF credential involves meeting an ICF-specified set of required hours of coach training and experience.

Institute of Coaching (IOC)

The Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the integrity and credibility of the coaching profession by bridging science and best coaching practices. The IOC advances research by awarding $100,000 a year in Harnisch Grants for coaching research projects.

CTI joined forces with the IOC in June 2012 to bring the art and practice of coaching together with the science that supports its efficacy. As a benefit of this partnership, CTI students and graduates are eligible for a discounted membership to the IOC’s global coaching community, the Institute of Coaching Professional Association (ICPA). This association brings together professionals and leaders in the field to disseminate coaching best practices based on a scientific backbone needed to validate this powerful tool for human transformation and growth.

American Council on Education (ACE)

The American Council on Education is a U.S. higher education organization that conducts public policy advocacy and research, and plays a significant role in higher education leadership development. For over 30 years, ACE has evaluated educational courses, such as the ones taught by CTI, according to established college-level criteria, recommending college credit for those that measure up to these standards.

CTI is the first and only coach training school to receive college credit recommendations from ACE. The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) has evaluated and recommended college credit for seven of CTI’s courses. A team of faculty evaluators validated CTI’s courses and determined that content, scope, and rigor align with curricula currently being taught at accredited institutions.
